Friday Fictioneers… ANTIQUING

 ANTIQUING…  A Drabble for FriFic

Somewhere on Maxwell Street… Chicago’s South Side…

“Come on, Cheryl, where’s your sense of adventure?”

“It’s dirty and gross here!”

“Wait till you see it. It’s beautiful. An antique!”

“Old and dirty does not antique make, Ethel. You know I don’t like used.”

“Get off your damn high horse.  Besides, there’s pork chop sandwiches, don’t try to tell me you won’t like those.”

“That’s the only reason I came. Where’s this chest of yours?  Stop!  Wait a minute… I love this!!”

“But, it’s old and dirty, plus the glass is cracked, Cheryl.”

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Ethel.”

GAME TIME… a Drabble for FriFic

“Okay, I’ll take the iron.”

“Wait a minute, Ethel! I’m the iron.  You know I’m always the iron!”

“That’s why I’m going to be the iron, Cheryl.  I’m sick and tired of you being so bossy,  I’m going to be the iron today.”

“Oh please.  My game, I get to choose, and I choose the iron.  You can be the car.  The iron is my good luck charm, that’s why I always win.”

“Oh for God’s sake, you don’t always win!  You know what?  I’m going to go get the candlestick or maybe the rope, we’ll see how you do then.”

Great photo choice, Rochelle (her own this time).   I love looking at shadow boxes and the memories they contain.  To see more stories based on this week’s photo prompt… Click on FriFic.

Friday Fictioneers… FORBIDDEN LOVE

100 Word Flash Fiction

copyright-renee-homan-heath

One last lingering kiss.

A union forbidden by centuries old taboo. But, will love conquer all? We think not. See those eyes watching through the fronds?

It had been a glorious few days, despite their constant worry. They had been careful though, and true love had blossomed from lust. They hoped to unite, not only themselves but their people. It was time to return, and as he headed to the outrigger, he took one last look at her lithe figure disappearing into the palms to her family home.

The eyes followed her… it was many months before he heard the news.

Rochelle sent all The Fictioneers a beautiful photo that Renee Heath, at Rendezvous With Renee, took at her daughter’s wedding.  It is such a beautiful wedding aisle, I wonder who or what will be walking down it today, after the Friday Fictioneers get their hands on it.  They can be a blood thirsty lot.  If you want to know more about 100 Word Flash Fiction and  The Friday Fictioneers  go see Rochelle and join in with your story.  To see Renee and other’s stories go here…

Friday Fictioneers… MUSE

It had been years since he touched a wheel.

Nothing said ‘vacation’ like daytime drinking, and he had been on vacation a long time.  No creative spark in sight.
It bothered him, and in clear moments would go to museums, hoping a muse would find him.

Now, kneading the clay, the familiar slap on the plaster bat bringing it all back, he couldn’t wait till the first kick.  He felt this might save him, for as in times almost forgot, he had no doubts it would be good.

Funny what pointed the way, another artist’s work,  a jeering face saying … “Loser.”
