~ ~ ~ the story continues ~ ~ ~

“Hi, it’s Cheryl.”
“Hello.”
“Look, I apologize, for how I treated you, Ethel. I was thoughtless treating my best friend that way.”
“Well, thank you, I won’t stay mad forever.”
“Good, because I got tickets to your favorite band to make up for it.”
“My favorite band?”
“The Stones! Playing at Soldier Field! Remember when we saw them in ’64.”
“They were your favorite band, Cheryl, I liked the Beatles. I didn’t like that Mick, the way he jumped around.”
“Well you like him now, right?”
“Of course, silly, they became my second favorite band right after that show.”

The Rolling Stones: 2019 "No Filter" Tour Opener - Chicago

The Rolling Stones kick off the North American run of their ‘NO FILTER’ Tour at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL on Friday, June 21, 2019

I’m sure Ethel and Cheryl enjoyed the show that night. My friend Catherine saw them in New Orleans with The Librarian on July 15th, and I will be attending their Seattle show with Ashley on August 14th! The last time I saw the stones was in 1966 in Sacramento with 3,000 other fans.

  1. Ted, how did you choose the names for your characters? Good story, btw. Cheryl must’ve dropped a wad o’ $$$ for those Stones tickets. I hope Ethel appreciates that. 🙂

    1. I don’t know, Susan, they just popped into my head the first time I wrote them. Cheryl isn’t the only one to drop a wad for Stones tickets. 🙂 Funny thing… just today I got an email with my new tickets. Originally scheduled for May in Seattle. Looking forward to seeing them. Last time I saw them was at the concert that Keith touched the mike with his face and there was a short and he got shocked and knocked out. The curtain came down and after a while a guy poked his head through the curtain and said the show was over and everyone go home. They took him to the hospital and he was okay. Nothing can kill Keith.

      1. I’m not entirely convinced Keith has really been alive for the last decade.

  2. great ending and I’ve never seen them live – have an amazing time!

    1. It will be fun. My daughter is a super Stones fan.

      1. you’ll both love it

  3. They gather no moss, those ones.

    1. Yes, that’s for sure.

  4. Humm… Old rock stars never die… they just stay stationary. 🙂

    1. Not these ones though! I’m the same age as Mick, I’m comfortable being stationary.

  5. Aw, silly friends, they made progress and stick it out together.
