SO MANY DISHES
“What’s wrong now, Ethel?”
“I’ve thought, thought and thought, Cheryl, but I can’t decide what to bring for my Thanksgiving side dish.”
“As long as it’s not your lime Jell-O with marshmallows, Ethel.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The dish, pictured above, actually existed… Thanksgiving 2009… My son-in-law Steve insisted on making it. I don’t know if he got the recipe from Ethel. I think he ate most of it.
Trifectra’s Editors issued this decree:
This weekend, writers, it’s up to you. We want you to choose a word and use it three times in your 33 words. However, it must be either a verb, noun or adjective and the form of the word cannot change, it must appear exactly the same three times. Please highlight your chosen word in your piece before linking up.
I love Ethel and Cheryl.
Ick…I really dislike Jell-o. Leaves more for Ethel!
Such a Newfie dish. Sometimes they would drop in the canned mixed fruit. I like it.
So cute!
These two need their own TV show. Perhaps not a cooking one, though. Thanks for linking up!
Ethel & Cheryl rock!
I think every family has at least one of those “treasured” holiday recipes.
Never fancied lime green anything, but I’d probably try it out just cause you said marshmallows 😛
yuk…lol
This did make hungry … (or maybe not)…
I love it, ours was orange jello and mandarine oranges plus , so bad that you
never forget
Interesting . . .
I was laughing already at the photo, Ted!
This is why I haven’t been home for Thanksgiving in 30 years. lol
Ethel & Cheryl < 3
I inherited my grandma’s recipe box. She had a whole section devoted to jello, including a recipe for “Under the Sea” jello salad. We really don’t want to go there, do we? 😉
A very fun 33 words, Ted!
Ha. My mom used to make orange jello with grated carrots and crushed pineapple. I always hated it, and yet Thanksgiving without it isn’t Thanksgiving.
I actually like lime jello with marshmellows. Or maybe it’s orange with pineapple. I can’t remember. I haven’t joined a Thanksgiving dinner for many years. lol. Love the photo and I had to read it again to even realize “thought” was your word. duh. Brilliant.
I was just at the store tonight buying ingredients for my family’s weird jello “salad” dish for Thanksgiving. Great post!
This is hilarious–especially with the follow-up info. Why does lime jello even exist? I guess it’s ok for jello shots. 🙂
Cheryl should have told Ethel marshmallows are only used in hot chocolate and roasting on a stick around a campfire! Thanks for the chuckle Ted!
