100-words Flash Friday Fictioneers… THE UNDERPASS

Today’s the day.  Going to pop another cherry.  Almost getting hard thinking about it, I know I will be when I get there… that’s always the way it works.

Chancy, taking the risk… she may be watched.  Doesn’t matter, someone else will get the honors, and I want to be first.  I have a reputation to uphold, and you don’t get to be the master without a few risks.

This tunnel is the perfect place… dark and cool inside.  No one to see.

The cans rattling in my backpack empower me… Carnelian my favorite.

“STOP… POLICE!”  “I told you he’d come.”

Another Friday… another photo prompt… another stab at Fiction with Madison Woods and her friends… see their stories here.

  1. Dear Ted,

The temptation of a Tabula Rasa snags another would be Michelangelo. If you only knew how long I stared at that pristine wall. Even went so far as to consider those color variations that look like the results of something overgrowing the rising concrete.

Ah, well…Yours was the perfect story in that vein because is led us down a sinister and terrifying path and then turned delightfully artistic. Graffiti Interruptus. Very cool.

    Aloha,

    Doug

  2. I hope this is about graffiti

    1. Of course, Catherine… whatever did you think?

  10. Reminds me of the time I got carded buying a can of gold spray paint…only a couple years ago. I asked the lady what she thought I was going to do with it. I assured her it was to paint a Halloween costume, but I think she remained convinced I had something illegal planned. Thanks for sharing your “Banksy” post.

A perfect example of micro-flash fiction: leading us one way and then spinning us completely around. Great story and writing!

  15. I think you fooled a lot of people with this one. Great take on the prompt!

  16. This is brilliant. I started reading going, ‘woah…’ through ‘erm’ and then into ‘hehe, very nice’. I had absolutely no way of seeing the twist on this one, and I like that. I suspected it wasn’t as literal as the first line made it seem, but the graf/tagger aspect… great stuff. I really like your writing style, it’s instantly engaging. Very well done.

    1. I don’t know brilliant, but I do appreciate the kind of words, Andy.

  17. Great story. Totally unexpected ending. Really enjoyed it.

  18. A well-penned take, if a little risqué for an artist. Good job!

  19. Hahah, I’m pretty late getting around to this one, Ted. I didn’t see anything creepy about it, but you sure had me fooled!

  20. Well done Ted…..tricked me too!! Very nicely done…loved it!!
